One of the reasons SC Johnson has succeeded as a family-owned and family-managed global business for 112 years is its commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment and the social and economic health of the communities in which the company does business. This commitment is exemplified in the Johnson familys continued bond
with the people of Fortaleza, Brazil, and the companys concern for the educational
well-being of the areas children. |
In 1963, H.F. Johnson Jr. transformed 8,500 square feet of warehouse space at the Fortaleza carnauba processing facility to classroom space and established Escola Johnson - a primary school that provided an elementary education to some 400 to 600 students between the ages of 6 and 12. |
